Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up within New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature from The University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. 1996, she became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). The following year, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office by 1988. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. And chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. She was on the panel of the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Her coverage included a variety of crucial stories such as the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms and also the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively along with the president Reagan to meet with Mikhail Gorbachev.
